Following a health and safety incident at the NatWest Library Place branch, AFM engineers attended the site the same day, completing an initial visual inspection and fencing off the area to ensure public safety.
AFM then engaged Granite Le Pelley and following further detailed assessment, a comprehensive repair works proposal was produced. As a result AFM were appointed as main contactor with GLP as specialist subcontractor for the significant first phase of repairs.
Chantel Gratz, AFM Project Manager has worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure clear communication throughout and to minimise public inconvenience and prioritise public safety in one of St Helier’s busiest locations. Chantel commented, “We would like to commend all external interested parties as they have been very helpful and accommodating since inception.”
GLP have completed work including initial blast cleaning followed by limestone and precast mortar repairs along with reforming the decorative façade to its original design. In addition to the restoration works, AFM will complete repairs to the roof lead works, roof slates and decorative works on all windows.
Phase 1 is scheduled for complete in February 2020 and AFM are in discussions with the client to secure a second significant phase which will run concurrent with the completion of Phase 1.
