Twenty-four of our electrical engineers from across the Channel Islands are now up-to-date with the latest industry regulations on requirements for electrical installations.
This qualification ensures that our team comply to the 18th edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, which came into force in June 2018, these being recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671)
Training was provided by the NICEIC, who are recognised in the electrical industry to be a leading governing body, with the course giving an overview of the key changes in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, including;
scope, object and fundamental principles, definitions, assessment of general characteristics, protection for safety, selection and erection of equipment, inspection and testing, special installations or locations and appendices.
A 2 hour exam followed on from the training, which is certificated by City & Guilds.
“We are extremely pleased that so many of our team have acquired the 18th Edition certification. It is extremely important that our team are compliant with the latest industry standards.” Martyn Pipet, Operations Manager (Guernsey).
BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations was released on 2nd July 2018 and comes into effect on 1st January 2019. Installations designed after 31st December 2018 will have to comply with BS 7671:2018.
