Volunteers decorate Social Room at the Vision Support Centre in Guernsey

As the Guernsey Blind Association approach their centenary year in 2019 a willing team of volunteers from AFM Guernsey have completed a project to freshen up the Social Room at the Vision Support Centre.

Debbie Clarke, vision support advisor said, The social room is the hub of our centre where we hold weekly activities. With the reflective paint and new lighting, the works carried out by the team at AFM have resulted in a bright and fresh environment for our service users to meet and take part in a wide range of activities. On behalf of everyone here at the GBA I would like to say a massive thank you to all those involved.”

“When we learnt that the GBA were looking to decorate their social room in preparation for the centenary celebrations taking place next year, it seemed like a fitting way to end to our charity partnership for 2018” said Martyn Pipet, Chairman of AFM Guernsey’s Community Support Committee. “…and with each of the volunteers having varying experience in painting and decoration we had our Building Fabric Supervisor, Paul Saltwell on hand to ensure the project ran smoothly.”

The Guernsey Blind Association have a number events scheduled to take place during 2019 to celebrate the charities centenary year.
